President's Message: March 2022

Have you registered for the 2022 ASNM Annual Meeting? 

The ASNM Annual Conference will be hosted in sunny Clearwater Beach, Florida. This will be ASNM's first in-person conference since 2019! All the more power for our members and fellow IONM colleagues to come together in one place to collaborate with each other on initiatives and relationships this virtual world has provided us!

The conference offers dual tracks, debates between two experts, lightning round discussions, poster presentations, high-level plenary session speakers, a reception, exhibit hall and diverse opportunities to expand your network. Stay up-to-date on current research in the field, expand your in-depth knowledge, and engage with key industry members, including technologists, physicians, and supplier representatives.

 

CEU/CME Being Offered?

The ASNM will be offering the below breakdown of CEU's, CME's, and AAA (American Academy of Audiology) credits. "ASNM CEU's are ABRET recognized for CNIM CEUs toward exam eligibility and recertification."

Friday: 8 hours worth of CEU and CME  
Saturday: 8 hours worth of CEU and CME 
Sunday: 4 hours worth of CEU and CME 
Total 1 person can receive: 20 CEU's and 20 CME

We would also like to thank our expert speakers Rich Vogel and Mirela Simon for sharing their knowledge and thank our superb panelists, Drs. Christoph Seubert, Faisal Jahangiri, and Francesco Sala for the amazing in-depth discussion. 2022 Annual Meeting Poster Submissions 

On behalf of the 2022 Annual Meeting's organizational committee, we would like to invite you to submit research posters for our Annual ASNM meeting to be held in Clearwater, Florida May 19-22, 2022.
 
Please follow the instructions below for accurate submission:

SUBMISSION DEADLINE - EXTENDED
 
GENERAL SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
  • Abstracts must be submitted only in English.
  • Required Format: Title, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion
  • Abstracts must be submitted through the online abstract submission site.
  • All authors should be listed with their credentials, certifications, and contact information
  • Names should be listed as First name, Middle initial, Last Name format.
  • Abstracts will be limited to 500 – 600 words
  • Acronyms should be spelled entirely (no abbreviations in the title).
  • The top ten abstracts will present live at the meeting
  • All other abstracts will be on display in the exhibit hall 
 
DISCLOSURE INFORMATION
All authors with accepted posters will be required to sign a conflict of interest and FDA disclosures form.
 
POSTERS REVIEW & DISCOUNT:
The research committee will review all submissions and notify only authors with accepted posters by Friday, April 15th, 2022. All selected posters will be displayed in electronic form. Presenting authors with accepted posters will get a $50 discount for registration.

ASNM Recognition Awards:
Nomination Process

For transparency:  All award types and nomination processes will be sent to committee members and the general membership each year by Jan 15.

For inclusion: Certain categories have specific nominating guidelines, however, anyone may nominate a peer for recognition if they believe that the nominee’s personal and professional characteristics distinguish them as exceptional contributors to ASNM.

There may be more than one award recipient chosen in any category, and some years may not see a recipient in every category.
 

Nomination Guidelines:

  1. Nominations must be made in writing on a form and submitted to the ASNM.
  2. Nominations must identify the specific award category.
  3. Nominees may not receive awards in multiple categories in the same year.
  4. Nominations must be supported by a written description of why the nominee deserves consideration for the specified award.
  5. Nominations must be seconded by written signature on the nomination form. Absent a second, the nominee will be considered only if he or she received at least one more nomination for the same award category.
  6. Any ASNM member in good standing can nominate/second someone for the Founder’s Award. All other awards require nomination/second from a specific group/committee, as detailed in the award description. 
  7. Self-nominations or seconds will not be accepted.
  8. Anonymous nominations or seconds will not be accepted.
  9. Nominations or seconds will not be accepted from a spouse, partner, or immediately family member of the nominator or nominee.
  10. The Awards Subcommittee of the Membership Committee will review nominations and select recipients.
  11. The supervisor, spouse, partner or immediate family member of a nominee can serve on the committee but must abstain from any discussion and/or voting related to the nomination. 
  12. If a Membership Committee member is nominated, he or she may not be present during the relevant portion of the discussion.
  13. Approved nominations will be forwarded to the executive committee for final confirmation.
 
Details of nominations and discussions about nominees who are not selected will be kept confidential.

Founders Award Nominations

The ASNM Founders Award:
Do you know an individual whose dedication to the IONM profession is evidenced by commitment to delivering the highest quality of patient care, contribution to the literature, and/or contribution to the ASNM? 

We are currently accepting nominations from YOU as ASNM members for IONM professionals that embody one or all of the qualities above. One recipient will be selected from all nominees, and he/she will be recognized with this prestigious award at the ASNM Annual Meeting in Clearwater,FL.

Mary Stecker Travel Grants:

Dear Membership,
 
      The ASNM is looking for nominees for the Mary Stecker travel grants. These go to individuals who are new to the field or who are in training programs for the field of IONM. They can be for anyone who is in their first year of practice or still training. The ASNM offers two of these a year. These grants cover the annual meeting registration and also a $250 check.
